Things to Do

Fishing at Smith Mountain Lake

For the fishing enthusiast, whether you are a live bait fisherman or an artificial bait fisherman, Smith Mountain Lake offers plenty of fishing for all seasons.  Stop in to one of our local tackle stores to hear stories about the “BIG ONES” that got away, or for tips on what the fish are biting.  Don’t have a boat,  no worries,

we have plenty of charters and fishing guides to help you along your way.  Smith Mountain Lake is known for some good size striper, large /small  mouth bass, and cat fish.  We are home to some major tournaments too, one in particular is the BASS Masters Classic ( it’s the NASCAR of Fishing). It’s also a wonderful opportunity to come visit and be a spectator of this 3 day event.  So if you’re planning a guy’s weekend fishing trip, or bringing the family down to watch one of the tournaments, make CB Sales and Rentals your choice in planning your sleeping accommodations in one of our wonderful vacation rental homes.  Also don’t forget you will need a fishing license to fish, no worries any marina and most grocery stores can assist you in obtaining either a 5 day pass, or a 1 year Virginia fishing license.
